Martime Pride Eggs has developped over the last few years an egg network distribution to the retail and institutional distributors from different regions of the Maritimes. We serve our clients every week with our own trucking fleet.
Maritime Pride Eggs is supplied by nine (9) Maritimes egg producers of which most are shareholders. These producers are found in many regions of the Maritimes.
The company employs approximately 30 employees, mostly full time. Each employee is involved in the process of bringing the eggs (over 180 million eggs per year) from the producers to the consumers
History
For many years egg production, grading and marketing in the Maritime Provinces was conducted by a large number of small producer graders serving markets located in close proximity to their respective farms. A large segment of the market was controlled by local independent retailers and wholesalers and so it became very much a family tradition for each producer grader to supply the market requirements in their respective location.
In the 70's many of the independent retailers and wholesalers began to disappear as ownership of the egg markets became concentrated in the hands of large Regional and National grocery chains. As a result, it became apparent to a number of proactive producer graders that to properly service their customers, the egg grading and marketing business must also change to the new retail and wholesale environment. Accordingly, the desire to separate egg production from grading and marketing led to the creation of "stand alone" grading marketing operations. Two unrelated producer groups, driven by the same decisions commenced operations as Sunny Glen Eggs in New Brunswick and Archibald Farm Products in Nova Scotia. These two operations although unrelated at the time, shared the same vision and were to become the forerunner to Maritime Pride Eggs.
Again, as egg markets continued to evolve and mature through larger stores and warehouses, regional distribution, category management, speciality egg marketing programs and development of the food service industry, it became apparent that a decision to further consolidate the grading and marketing industry needed to be made in order to continue to meet the customers needs on an efficient, cost effective basis. The creation of Maritime Pride Eggs with its new central plant in Amherst, Nova Scotia as the largest egg grading, marketing operation in Atlantic Canada resulted from this decision..
Mission
Maritime Pride Eggs goal is to introduce their quality eggs of Maritime Pride brand to the largest number of Maritimes consumers possible.
The company's ultimate goal is that all our eggs become a part of a delicious meal enjoyed by our consumers.
